Shine Your Way for Teen Girls

In collaboration with Siobhan Tierney from Shining Self Space Yoga & Meditation... we present a workshop that empowers teenage girls to celebrate their individuality and uniqueness. We will focus on their passions and strengths to empower them towards a greater sense of wellbeing and happiness.

The teen years can be challenging for girls. The pandemic, social media, and the evolutionary need to fit in can take a toll on teens' wellbeing and self-esteem. This workshop intends to counteract all of the above, by gently empowering girls with a stronger sense of self-worth.

This workshop combines the elements of somatic movement and Yoga to release anxiety, stress and unhelpful self-beliefs; mindfulness to assist the attendees to be present; relaxation to reduce stress and reset the nervous system; creativity to build self-worth and celebrate uniqueness; connection with a positive group to enhance feelings of wellbeing and activities that increase self-awareness.

Attendees will identify their own interests, strengths, passions, achievements and personal qualities. This self-awareness leads to increased confidence and healthy self-esteem. The more we understand ourselves and what brings us joy, the more self-assured and secure we feel.

Suitable for beginners and seasoned Yoginis, however, Yoga is just a small part of the workshop.

Please bring your own Yoga mat, towel and a water bottle.

All Things Splits — Hip openers (Front Split, Middle split, Pan Cake and Standing Splits)

Join Ravi and his colleague Debs, for this workshop that will leave your hips and your heart happy!

Almost all poses in yoga allows for some sort of muscle to be stretched in and around the hip area. We will flow through a hip-opening Vinyasa practice with awareness of all the muscles we are using in each pose, followed by techniques to safely get in and out Poses

Your hips are the connection point of both the spine and the legs. The ‘hip girdle’ and the 20+ muscles that it encompasses are the central station of the body. So working on hip mobility improves your relationship with the rest of your body and its overall well-being.

When hips are tight, they increase the load and cause overuse of the spine. In addition to the benefits of improved range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain, opening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well.

Yogic tradition holds the hips as a storage ground for negative feelings and pent-up emotions, especially ones related to control in our lives. Hip-opening can also create space for the birth of new ideas and new pathways.

Opening the hips gives us access to freedom in the body and in our own unique expression - creatively, physically, sexually, and spiritually.

No prior yoga experience necessary.

Take time for yourself to recharge and join us on our next Soulful Sunday Session - a deeply rejuvenating yoga nidra practice lead by Andrea from Pink Pomelo, combined with a powerful gong sound bath by Peggy Barbier.

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. Anyone can do yoga nidra, there is no right or wrong, it is easy to take into your daily life, to reduce stress and to discover and learn about yourself.

Spaces are very limited for this popular event. Bookings are required.

Hire our Yin space

Our beautifully naturally lit Yin space is available for hire for either your private event, yoga workshop, sound healing or meditation party, dance class, reformer training etc. Also, we are more than happy to collaborate with you to spread the benefits of wellness to the community.

At One Body Studio we can design a wellness event for you and your party, or alternatively you can hire the space and do the event coordination with your team.

We are conveniently located on a main road with a bus stop across the road, plenty of parking and only 15 minutes from Brisbane city. Access to our reception area, kitchenette and bathroom facilities is also included.

So if you’re looking for a venue that invites inclusivity, serenity and wellness vibes, please get in touch.

Cost: minimum $70 room hire for 60 mins (depending on number of attendees). This does not include equipment rental.
